Lyrics:

It was all a dream, I woke up in seat B-11,
I was only 14 on this 747.
On a 14 hour flight that felt alright,
Watching C+ movies all up through the night.
Then we hit the tarmac hear the wheels squealing,
Everybody claps and i see my mama tearing.
We've landed in the motherland of my mom,
Welcome to Manila says the pilot on the intercom.

Chorus:

When I was growing up in the US,
Mom was stressed putting food on the table.
When i got a job, i really wanted no less,
Than HBO when we installed our cable.
But for most making dollars is a fable
Making thirty pesos per hour if able.
Some want a big white house, or a condo,
Others just condensed milk and avocado.

Verse 2:

Mom never left home, is what I always think.
She always used to pack dove soap and nesquik.
To bring back gifts, to all her kapatids,
Back in the province where she used to live.
And after ten years of caregiver service,
She suffered a stroke, that got us all nervous.
A typical Fil Am retirement plan.
Work before it kills you and as much as you can.

Verse 3:

Why buy a house while indigenous lands are lost?
Urban dwellers eat up all of the food you toss.
All these kids having kids, so go out and adopt.
Stop it with all of the poverty talk.
Time to walk in their shoes no matter the cost,
And review, who’s in charge of making the laws.
And demand that they know that enough is enough,
Time to change it up, make a world where everyone’s loved.
